Tokenization vs. Encryption: what's the difference?
Tokenization replaces sensitive data with
a randomized, non-sensitive substitute.
Tokenized data CANNOT be hacked.
PII is stripped from healthcare record;
there's no valuable data to steal.
Encryption changes the data type & length
making info unreadable in databases.
Encrypted data CAN be hacked. Hackers steal encryption key & intercept data either before or after it’s decrypted.
Genuine PHI is stripped from record & secured in Remote Token Vault
